E-Lawyering Program

In this program track we introduce lawyers and law firms to the Multicast and to a new paradigm we refer to as Constant Communication. The Multicast is our way of describing the rapidly growing number of information and communication channels available to nearly everyone in our hyper connected society. Constant Communication is a new paradigm defined by our constant connection to a wide number of channels within the Multicast. In other words, societally, we are linked up and constantly sending and receiving information.

But there's a catch: nearly all the channels in the Multicast come with ways to limit or close off communication completely. You are already familiar with most of these--phones have answering machines, televisions have remote control to let you surf away from commercials, e-mail has spam blockers and web browsers have pop-up controls to name just a few. As a result, the Multicast is about selectivity and Constant Communication forces us to make value choices about what information we let through. The courses in this track teach lawyers how to put messages into the Multicast, how to operate within the norms of the Constant Communication paradigm and how to thus expand their practices.

Each of the courses deals with specific technology tools that lawyers can use to reach people and the specific tactics and strategies that lead to success. Success in the Constant Communication paradigm is all about remaining fresh, interesting and relevant. When one or more of these is missing, people start to ignore your communications. When they are present, people want more and more of you. Among the principles we work with are matching your messages with the right groups of people, leveraging the interest groups of others and repurposing your knowledge assets for specific groups of people and specific channels in the Multicast.

These courses empower lawyers and law firms to communicate with the world in the way the world is communicating--to join the global communication frenzy with focused, entertaining and educational messages to which people will pay attention.
